«CollStat» was designed to be a reliable and performant tool for tabulating «practical statistics».

While «Statistics» is often taken to mean «pure statistics» – like regression analysis, confidence intervals and bayesian statistics, with «practical statistics» we mean tabulating values like «count», «average» and «sum» – but also a large number of other values.

The «CollStat» design and functionality was built from more than 30 years’ experience with SW for statistics.

The basic data model of «CollStat» is the «Star Schema», as implemented in a SQL Database. The implementation uses possibilities of the SQL Database for handling accsess rights and for individuality.

One unusual part of the «CollStat» concept is the filtering and grouping functionality.

One example: A city may officially be divided geographically into several thousand very small squares. For the purpose of
the cities’ administration, the squares are grouped (square groups) of 5 to 10 squares. For specific tabulations,
only a few square groups are tabulated – but the selection and definition of the groups change often.

«CollStat» provides tools for efficiently establising new group definitiones – and the tabulations thereof.
